We can evaluate the bridge structure and provide the client with the Inventory rating (indefinite load capacity) and the Operating rating (maximum load level).
The rating can be done with the following methods:
- Load Factor Method
- Working Stress Design Method
- Load and Resistance Factor Method
In the cases where record sets of drawings need to be produced, we shall employ the latest scanning techniques to obtain the physical dimensions as well as size and location of reinforcing steel. In these cases, we would also advocate a physical load test to allow for a comparison with an FEA model of the structure. Comparing the predicted and actual performance of the structure will ensure the structure has been accurately defined.
As part of the Bridge Rating we can provide the client with suggested remedial actions as well Guided Inspection Protocols (GIP), allowing the client to focus on critical areas or "hot spots" of the structure during future inspections.
